Zamfara state introduces fresh approach to grazing areas

The Governor of Zamfara state,Bello Matawalle  has given a directive for the initiation of a new approach to rural grazing settlements in the state.

The Governor gave the order in Gusau, after receiving the proposed new approach from the project consultant, Mr Emmanuel Ozigi.

He said, “this project which is going to be located in the three senatorial districts of the state will be fully and jointly funded by the state government and the 14 local government councils of the state.

“It is also aimed at showcasing to the world that the peace process embarked by this administration is working.

“It is also to show the appreciation of the state government to the Fulanis and its commitment to meeting their yearnings.

“This project will not only be beneficial to the Fulanis but all citizens of the state as the derivable benefits are enormous and a way of boosting the economy of the state and its citizens,” he added.

The Governor disclosed that after the proposed scheme, which will take effect on Tuesday 3rd, the Federal Government would come up with its own rural grazing settlement plans in the state.

Prior to this, Mr Emmanuel, the project consultant saddled with the blueprint of the project, said it would include access roads, landscaping, grazing reserves, primary and secondary schools. It would also include, Islamiyya schools, Mosques, hospitals, veterinaries, abattoir, social centers, dams, and cemeteries.

The derivable benefits of the project, according to him, would also involve empowerment via shops, markets, milk, hides and skin production for export, police station and banks.
