Osun to tackle unemployment with Dairy Project

The Osun State Government says it plans to combat unemployment in the State through the Dairy Project Development activities of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.

Former Commissioner for Special Duties in the state, Mudasiru Toogun who disclosed this at the project’s stakeholders meeting in Osogbo said that 25,000 jobs would be created through the initiative.

In his remarks, the Co-ordinating Director of Osun Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Oluwabukola Aluko stated that the dairy potential of Osun state had been recognized and that the state was ready to collaborate with the milk companies.

According to him, the collaboration, would improve the economy, provide employment opportunities for the youth, women and Fulani dairy farmers and other potential milk producers in the state.

On his part, 2-scale Representative Mohammed Zelani, stressed that the project would benefit the state and Nigeria as a whole.

Zelani noted that their assistant partner in the project, Friesland Campina Wamco, would source 100,000 litres of milk per day to be processed into high quality product.

He added that the company was ready to work with the Ministry of Agriculture to explore and develop the dairy value chain in Osun State.
