In a bid to encourage mass production of sesame, the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Daura chapter, Katsina state says it has guaranteed the procurement of sesame produce and ensured a stable market for its farmers.
Local Chairman of AFAN Daura, Malam Nura Hassan who disclosed this during an interview with newsmen, stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed by the association with an Italian based company on production, procurement and marketing of sesame.
Hassan stressed that the essence of the MoU was to guarantee a stable market for sesame farmers, to avoid unnecessary losses. He also said that there will be five selling points designated in the Daura metropolis.
The Chairman also assured that the farmers will sell at an appreciable price, while urging over 3,000 farmers who produce sesame to bring their commodity for sale.
Hassan also noted that the Italian company was due to arrive Daura this week to begin the procurement of sesame directly from the farmers, which would be measured in kilogram.
