NIAE advocates proper dry season farming to boost Nigeria’s economy

The Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) has stated that the proper utilization of dry season farming will solve the economic and unemployment challenges haunting the country.

Speaking at a public lecture at Kaduna, Engr. Emmanuel Olorunaiye, of Kaduna Polytechnic, said that dry season farming can be beneficial to farmers as crop yields are higher than other seasons.

Olorunaiye pointed that there is need to explore the potentials and proper utilization of flood water for irrigation in Kaduna State and the country.

According to NIAE, it is ready to partner with the Kaduna State Government as well as the Federal Government in conducting researches to proffer innovations in dry season farming and proper irrigation management.

The event titled; ‘Ground and Surface Water Resources in Kaduna State: Potential for Dry Season Farming’ was organised by the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE), Kaduna State Chapter in Collaboration with the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
