OYSADEP celebrates Field Day, vows to intensify farmers’ training

The Oyo State Agricultural Development Program (OYSADEP) on Wednesday held its Field Day celebration in Ibadan to commemorate the significant impact it has had on farmers towards achieving food security in the state.

Manager of the program, Mrs. F. F. Akande stated in her opening remark that the initiative has been able to boost economic activities and improve the livelihood of farmers in Oyo.

According to her, the successes of the program was as a result of the practical training that the farmers receive once every two weeks at the farmers’ field school.

Also speaking at the event, OYSADEP Zonal Manager for Ibadan/Ibarapa zone, Alhaji Oladapo said that the program will continue to train farmers on modern methods of farming, to increase harvest yields, boost food security and improve their livelihood.

On his part, Chairman of the Agric Development Farmers’ Association, Alhaji. S. A. Imam praised OYSADEP for the continuous and positive impact on farmers.

At the event, presentations on skill development and value addition were delivered, while the farmers also got the opportunity to exhibit their produce.

Representatives of the wife of the Oyo state deputy governor and the state’s commissioner for agriculture were present at the event alongside other dignitaries, farmers, and stakeholders.
