The Federal Government on Wednesday approved an N13.9b intervention fund for pest and animal disease control in the country.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Sabo Nanono, secured the approval from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) during its meeting at the State House, Abuja.

Nanono during the meeting said the ministry’s Agricultural Mechanization Programme has been kicked-started and would cover 632 of the 774 Local Government Areas in the country.

The Programme, he explained, would help Nigeria achieve food security, job creation and economic growth in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s Next Level Agenda.
