Farmers in Imo State were not left out of the distribution of inputs rolled out by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) to boost farmers’ yield this planting season.
The ministry, as part of its efforts to lift the burden of farmers, disbursed seeds and seedlings to smallholders in the state.
The distribution came on the back of the agricultural palliatives doled out to farmers in Cross River State on Thursday.
This is FMARD’s sixth distribution flag-off to farmers nationwide, as the ministry plans to invest heavily in farmers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Sabo Nanono who flagged off the exercise at the Heros Square, New Owerri, said the ministry was keen to transform agriculture by making quality seeds available and accessible.
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, extended gratitude to the ministry, urging farmers of the state to be resilient in their farming activities.
