President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration has recorded appreciable success in rice and other crops mainly through the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP) and the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative
These initiatives are anchored by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, respectively.
The President made these observations on Thursday while presenting the 2021 Federal Budget Proposals to a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja.
Buhari noted that his administration over the last year has implemented several priority projects in agriculture.
He added, “I am happy to report that much progress has been made on several fronts and our government has delivered on key policies, programmes and projects in these priority areas.
“We are also accelerating the construction of 337 rural roads around key agricultural corridors to enhance access to market and reduce post-harvest losses.”
The number one citizen, however, pointed out that his administration’s efforts were reduced by the adverse impact of Coronavirus pandemic on food availability, pricing and security
