The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has said it will collaborate with Premier Agribusiness Academy (PAA) to train its officers on agriculture and agribusiness, as part of its retirement plans for the officers.
Director-General of PAA, Toromade Francis, disclosed this after a meeting with some NPF stakeholders, at the Force headquarters, Abuja.
Present at the meeting were; President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) and Assistant Inspector General, Aishatu Abubakar, and Head of administration -Force Animal Branch, Department of Operations, CSP Taariminge Zirrah Faive.
According to Toromade, the training will cater to the needs of the officers who are willing to engage in agribusiness, after their retirement.
On her part, AIG Aishatu Abubakar, noted that the training is in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police IGP. M.A Adamu NPM, who recently inaugurated the maiden Nigeria Police Force Pre-retirement Farming and Skill Acquisition Centre at Kudan, Kaduna State to prepare police officers for a better life after retirement.
According to her, police offers without adequate training would most likely struggle with trading, which in turn, would lead to losses.
This, she said, was one of the motivating factors for this initiative, as both parties are keen on addressing any issue that could lead to struggles that stem from ignorance of agribusiness handling, on the part of the officers.
Toromade however disclosed that the training will focus on all aspects of agribusiness, ranging from poultry to agronomy and aquaculture.
