All twenty housemates of Nigeria’s novel agriculture reality TV show will be given a startup cash grant of one million naira, as the show edges its end.
The collateral-free loan will be granted to all housemates of the reality show, by the Bank of Agriculture, while the winner walks home with a grand price of one million naira.
The Naija Farmer Reality TV show is a brainchild of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with several other media outlets.
The programme which commenced in November 29, 2020, has been projected to lift over 20 million youths out of poverty, as well as create over one million agribusiness owners within ten years.
Co-ordinator and CEO of the Farm Mates show, D.r Chigbo Okoli, noted that promoting youth participation in agriculture, through a programme like this, would help the country maximise its potential in food production.
According to him, the show would not only encourage youth participation in agriculture but serve to encourage them to take up decent ways of earning income.
On his part, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sabo Nanono, while extolling the benefits of agriculture to all nations, commended the participants for their commitment.
According to him, agriculture is a bonding force for the country- the major reason the Buhari administration has remained committed to revitalising the sector.
He also noted that plans are currently underway to take the participants on a tour to all rice-producing states in the country.
This, according to him, will strengthen their resolve to be actively involved in agriculture.
