COVID-19 Vaccine: Agric Minister Gets First Jab

The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alh. Mohammed Sabo Nanono on Friday received the first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine in Abuja.

Earlier in March, the first batch of Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines arrived in Nigeria from India.

About 3.94 million doses of the vaccines were reported to have arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja via an Emirates flight.

Nigeria is the world’s third country to receive vaccines under COVAX, a global scheme to provide free vaccinations.

On March 6, President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo received jabs of the vaccines at the State House in Abuja.

Several prominent Nigerians have also been reported to have received the vaccine.

Meanwhile, the European Medicines Agency has restated that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective.
