OCP Africa partners Akwa Ibom For Agricultural Programme

A team of Agricultural Desk of OCP Africa was received by the Akwa Ibom State Government on Monday to signify the practical commencement of collaborations in the state.

Sessions organised by the team would feature presentations on the Governors achievements in the agricultural sector, activities of OCP Africa in agriculture, inspection of some plantations and farms in the state alongside some public and private agricultural projects.

The State Governor, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, had recently expressed optimism that the commencement of the $1.4 billion Fertiliser Plant Project in Akwa Ibom State by OCP Africa would have a positive impact on agriculture as well as create a viable economic chain in the state.

The Governor also stated that people in Akwa Ibom, especially farmers, stood to benefit a lot from the project, as OCP Africa would ensure the necessary education for farmers on fertiliser needs and the best practices.

He said the project would berth a huge investment in agriculture, partnering with farmers, distributors and stakeholders to foster a thriving agriculture system.

Present at the cocktail organised by the State Government for the OCP representatives were the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Glory Edet, Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno, Akwa Ibom State University Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Umoren Umoren, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Marketing and Brand Management and a host of other officials.
