Borno: Senator Empowers Farmers, Traders with N40m, Farm Inputs

Senator representing the Southern Borno constituency, Mohammed Ali Ndume has empowered hundreds of farmers and traders in the state with N40 million and necessary farm inputs.

The senator who also doubles as the Chairman Senate Committee on Army also distributed 10 trucks of fertilisers and three trucks of modified maize seed varieties to farmers across 9 Local Government Areas.

The deputy governor of the state, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur at the flagging off ceremony that preceded the distribution lauded the senator for his generosity and contribution towards promoting women and youth.

Kadafur, however, urged beneficiaries to put the items given to proper use and see them as an opportunity to climb the ladder of prosperity.

Senator Ndume in his address revealed this the gesture wasn’t his first, but an annual tradition of his. He recounted other projects in line with his electioneering campaign promises.

“The empowerment programmes which is in six categories comprised of farmers, students, women, youth and other vulnerable groups in the constituency.

“Today’s ceremony is the empowerment of 1000 Farmers with 5 trucks of fertilisers and 2 trucks of maize seeds improved varieties, while another group of young farmers would be presented and empowered with 3 trucks of fertilisers and one truck of maize seeds.

“Other 1000 traders are to be presented with N10 million cheque.

“Likewise, 1000 students are to receive N10million cheque to support them in their educational pursuit, while another 1000 women groups would go home with ten million naira cheque, as well as 1000 youths would receive N10 million cheque respectively. This means every beneficiary will get N10,000 each,” Ndume said.

He also urged beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity as a means to improve their livelihoods.
